Studying Healthy, Spiritually Rich Human Life: Creativity and Challenges in Human Life Innovation
Our country is confronting various new social issues in connection with society’s changing population structure, including globalization, an aging population and an accelerating decline in the number of children. Ochanomizu University established the Human Life Innovation Development Research Organization as an international research center that promotes integrated research and development to resolve these issues.
The Institute for Human Life Innovation and Institute for Education and Human Development are part of this organization. Each puts our university’s strengths to work to coordinate with research organizations and companies in Japan and other countries to promote research into the dual aspects of mind and body. This includes physical and environmental aspects through human life and environmental sciences programs as well as psychological and social aspects through human developmental and educational science programs. Our goal is to produce creative innovative solutions that improve our living environment so that people can lead healthy, spiritually rich lives suited to all the human developmental stages from infancy to old age, as well as to disseminate those results to society.
To commemorate the organization’s establishment, we held a symposium entitled “Studying Healthy, Spiritually Rich Human Life: Creativity and Challenges in Human Life Innovation.” This symposium provided information about the goals and issues the organization tackles. There was also an opportunity for interaction among personnel from relevant organizations.
