Ochanomizu University and the University of Strasbourg commemorated the fifteenth anniversary of their partnership agreement by holding a workshop on the topic “How Can Education and Research Contribute to Human Life Innovation?”
Following opening remarks, Professor Jean-Pierre Sauvage of the University of Strasbourg—a 2016 Nobel laureate in chemistry for the design and synthesis of molecular machines—gave the keynote presentation.
This was followed by a session focusing on women’s contributions, during which Ochanomizu University President Kimiko Murofushi gave a presentation on the situation in Japan, Ochanomizu University’s efforts in support of women researchers, and the activities of researchers from Ochanomizu University at the University of Strasbourg and elsewhere overseas.
In a presentation during the university internationalization session, Vice President Yasuko Sasaki spoke about Japanese government efforts, international exchanges at Ochanomizu University, and the university’s centers involved in global activities. Vice President Misako Kato, Professor Ryoko Kodama, and project associate professor Mari Gotoh followed with presentations about their areas of specialization.
The two universities promised to expand and intensify their interactions through various discussions and chats over the course of the two days.
